The $1.3 Million Dollar Bike

Posted On : 21-04-2018

Is this the most expensive motorcycle in the world? At the approximate (and very distressing) retail price of $1,311,395.00, it might be.

This special bike is the final work of Massimo Tamburini, a legendary bike designer who had unfortunately passed away in 2014. Named the “Michelangelo of motorbike design”, Tamburini had started on this project since 2012 together with his son Andrea. This superbike, named the T12 Massimo (T for Tamburini, 12 being his lucky number and Massimo being Tamburini’s first name with the meaning of “maximum” in Italian), carries the SBK version of BMW Motorrad’s S1000RR inline-four engine.

After Tamburini’s death, Andrea had continued working on the machine, putting the finishing touches on it. “To showcase my father’s last work, in which he has put all of his life’s experiences, is the absolute best way to honour him as a designer and as a person,” said Andrea.

T12 Massimo makes for a 230 bhp unit that weighs 154 kg. Carried in a minimal steel trellis frame, the vehicle is made of carbon-fiber with only the very best racing components included.

Only 12 of these bikes will be produced by the San Marino based Tamburini Corse, and they will be officially unveiled at the Top Marques motor show in Monaco soon.
