Lazareth LMV 496 - The Flying Motorcycle That Can Be Transformed From Ridden To Fly Mode

Posted On : 20-08-2020

A flying motorcycle is no longer a dream. This dream exists, and it is called LMV 496. The motorcycle comes as a product of French company, Lazareth where engineers developed the first, usable prototype and have presented in at the beginning of the year. To answer your first question, yes, Lazareth LMV 496 can be ridden and can fly as well.
It uses an electric motor and four jet turbines. LMV 496 developed by Lazareth company where the leading engineer is Ludovic Lazareth. While the motorcycle has approved for the road use, there are currently five units made. The overall weight is 140kg while the maximum weight load is 1 ton.

A motorcycle that flies must be powered with powerful engines or motors. The Lazareth LMV 496 uses an electric motor when ridden on the road which has a range of 100 kilometres. When a rider wants to fly, the motorcycle will activate four jet turbines. Located on all four corners, and the total trust power is 1300 HP and can provide a flying time of 10 minutes.

Once the Lazareth LMV 496 lands down, the electric motor will be activated, and you can ride it as per usual.
Not a traditional motorcycle as this prototype Lazareth LMV 496 has four wheels and doesn’t look like a traditional motorcycle. It has four wheels (close together), so it seems like there are only 2, very thick wheels. Each wheel has an air rotor. When the rider wants, the wheels will move from vertical into a horizontal position, and the rotors will be engaged. Basically, the motorcycle will look like a big massive quadcopter drone when in flight mode.
The wheels also contain parachutes which can be deployed at any given moment, in a case of emergency. This feature makes the motorcycle very safe to fly. While operating in flight mode, the bike is controlled by using a joystick.

All of this may sound impressive and special, and it certainly is. However, all of this comes at a price. The cost of this vehicle is £380,000 or SGD$ 682,500. Obviously, the LMV 496 will be a rare and limited production motorcycle/aircraft that will be very desirable and probably even more expensive in the future. Although it is advertised as the first motorcycle that can fly, there are others, and some are also available for sale at this very moment. On the other side, LMV 496 is the first motorcycle that can fly and also ride on the road.
The final word:
The LMV 496 is something else, something completely different and unique that deserves your attention. It marks a beginning in the motorcycle realm. Some new models may look the same, and others may fly while third will offer all the advantages as the LMV 496 but at a more affordable price.
