Concept turned reality for Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 - and we are excited for this "White Arrow"
What was once a mere concept two years ago finally materialized, as the 2018 Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 was unveiled at the EICMA Motorcycle Show and is slated to be available in the market by the first quarter of 2018. The Svartpilen 701 concept was also released.
The Vitpilen (Swedish for “White Arrow”) uses the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto and KTM 690 Duke’s 693cc, liquid-cooled single cylinder engine. It is securely contained within a chromium-molybdenum-steel alloy trellis frame and rolls out 75hp at 8500rpm, and 72Nm of torque at 6570rpm. Tank capacity is 12 litres.
Other features include a Bosch 9M+ two channel switchable ABS, ride-by-throttle system which operates an electronic fuel injection, and the Adler Power Torque Control (APTC) hydraulic slipper clutch which reduces back torque and prevent the wheels from locking when downshifting.Braking power is provided by a radially-mounted four-piston Brembo caliper on a 320mm disc up front, and a single-piston Brembo floating caliper slowing down a 240mm disc at the rear. The suspension comes from WP with a 43mm inverted fork up front and linkage-assisted mono shock at the back. Both measure ~13.4cm (5.3inches).

The VITPILEN range marks a return to the simple spirit that originally made street motorcycling attractive. The simple yet progressive design of these bikes are a thought-provoking paradox that challenges perceptions through a series of contrasts – surreal yet realist, cold yet enticing, bold yet humble.’

Seat height measures ~83cm with a ~143.5cm wheelbase. The bike weighs ~156kg on an empty tank.
Prices and availability in Singapore are currently unknown.
